Monday Started off the week with a ticket from last week whereby a person wasn’t able to finish a business process flow and it came down to them not having the System Administrator that they had in the development instance, so not hard to fix. At this stage, we had a meeting with one other developer in Dublin and the main customer where there was a problem with the logic of one of the processes that needed to be fixed, so we needed to have this meeting to sort out what the logic is supposed to do. I wasn’t sure what work the developer had done so far with the dev instance, so I emailed him to see what he had worked on, so I wasn’t treading over ground that was already done. ...

As a note for these posts, I’m not sure I’m allowed to go into specific about what companies I’m receiving tickets from, so I’m just not going to risk it and just be ambiguous, sorry about that. Monday New week, new me… or something to that effect. So, we went in and there wasn’t a huge amount to do initially but we had a meeting at 10:30 that will occur every fortnight with the rest of the CRM support team. I mean, I hadn’t even started doing any work with any of the customers, so I had nothing to commit to the conversation but I did at least get to hear what other people are up to. ...

And so it starts! This is the first week on work placement, the final part of my course. It’s all very exciting, but also very nerve-wracking, due to there being so many new skills that I’m going to have to learn. Point in case, this is my first time living away from home, so I have to look after myself and such. As a side note, these blog posts recalling my time on work placement are written on the same day so that I won’t forget too much detail. It may look weird from a writing standpoint as I’ll be saying “today” across multiple days, but it makes sense to me for the purpose of writing my reports at the end of each week. ...

Well hey there, it’s been a while alright. Guess I should explain where I’ve been for the past while then. Are you ready for it?… Laziness and tiredness. That’s all. I got too caught up in all of the projects that I had due that I really didn’t have a huge about of free time left to really want to update this site. But I’m back now, all projects for the year submitted and about to start work placement tomorrow, so it’s all starting to pick up again. ...

The start of a new year always comes with some amount of anxiety, at least that’s the case for me. There’s always the questions of what’s going to happen this year, what did I accomplish this year and how can I improve upon the goals that I set out to do. Being able to look at the future and say “Yeah, I can do it” is an important part that I some days feels like no problem and others, a huge mountain. But it’s all about waiting for change to happen, no matter how slow it is, is the important part. ...

Sorry about the title, I had to. College is really starting to kick my ass right now. All the projects are starting to pile up and it’s starting to eat into my free time. As a group, we’ve just started to get everything together and need each other to work on a lot of these projects. So… Long time, no chat! Ok, so I’ve some explaining to do regarding this whole blogging thing. This is the first time I’ve done anything quite like this, so for me, I haven’t quite gotten into the rhythm of doing something like this frequently. I realise that it’s been over a month since the last post and there actually has been a lot that’s been doing on, I’ve just been neglecting this blog. That… was a weird week. Ok, so it wasn’t actually that bad, more disorganised. With this being the first full week back to college, nothing is really set in stone at this point, but life moves on, so we run around the college aimlessly trying to find the right classroom that we’re supposed to be in at a given time. Either way, on to my log… Note: I’m going only going to be talking about important classes throughout the given day, not every class. So I’ll be omitting certain classes where not a lot happened (Lectures etc.). ...

So here we are, back to college. As stated in the about page, I attend IT Sligo, which is great considering how close it is to my house (10 minute drive) and that the course itself is actually good, which friendly lectures and full of people how want to learn. The exact course I’m studying is BSc in Computing in Software Development which in turn means that I do a wide type of different topics, from C# software development, to Game Development, to Databases, to Client-Side Scripting, to more. ...
